about

In 1979, the band “Helix” released this collection of Julian Mount’s songs: Phoenix.

Recorded at Phoenix Studio, London, UK.

Helix were…

Julian Mount: Songs, vocals and 12 string acoustic guitar (through analogue effects).

David Wicken: Lead guitar and synthesizer.

Paul Boizot: Bass guitar and electric guitar.

Greg Hunter: Percussion.

Interesting facts…

The (8 track) tape deck used for these recordings was the same one that Fleetwood Mac used to record “Albatross”.

David Wicken’s synthesizer was constructed by him from scratch.

The synthesizer was known as “The Grit” as is looked like a grit bin on the side of the road.
